Zimbabwe is set to train over 10,000 teachers and lecturers annually in artificial intelligence and digital literacy through a new partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as part of a broader strategy to advance industrialisation and digital transformation in the country, according to "TV BRICS".

The initiative was announced by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Jenfan Muswere, during a post-Cabinet media briefing in Harare. He confirmed that Zimbabwe will collaborate with digital education institutions from the UAE to expand access to cutting-edge training, particularly in rural communities. This is reported by The Herald, a partner of TV BRICS.

As part of the agreement, Zimbabwe will engage with UAE-based digital schools and global skills academies to harness solar energy for powering educational infrastructure. The move aims to strengthen competence-based education reforms, improve digital access, and drive inclusive development, especially in underserved areas.

A key component of the strategy is the annual training of more than 10,000 educators in artificial intelligence and digital tools. The government also plans to expand the One Laptop per Child initiative using a subsidised model, enabling affordable access to learning technologies for students across the country.

These initiatives are designed to stimulate sustainable economic growth and drive technological innovation in key sectors.
